Somatic Practices
Somatic Practices include a range of modalities that focus on the internal experience of the body and the inherent connection between body and mind. The term “somatic” comes from the Greek word “soma,” which means “the living body.” Somatic modalities explore the body as a living intelligence and as a portal to access deep states of healing, presence, and embodied wisdom.
Over 15+ years, I have studied and trained in Somatic movement modalities such as Body-Mind Centering®, Continuum Movement®, Feldenkrais® and Authentic Movement (AM), and have completed the training programs in the one-on-one modalities of Craniosacral Therapy in 2018 and Janzu Water Therapy in 2022. I offer individual sessions in these practices, which have also built the foundation for my performance work and have served in my personal healing and evolution.

These online sessions incorporate all of my Somatic modality methods as needed to address a topic of choice. Using talk, Somatic Experiencing techniques to support internal awareness, and movement to release holding patterns, I support clients to discover the root cause of any issues to facilitate release and transformation.

This gentle yet profound modality supports the release and rebalancing of physical and emotional patterns, inviting deep healing while being held in a safe and supportive space.
In a session, I attune through touch to the body’s fluid rhythms, working with systems such as the fascia, vagus nerve, and cerebrospinal fluid to unwind held patterns and support nervous system reorganization. Some sessions unfold in deep silence, while others incorporate Somatic Experiencing techniques that invite awareness and dialogue with the body.
Craniosacral therapy can be given to adults, children, and babies.

Janzu, also known as the ‘re-birth therapy’ is a one-of-a-kind healing experience in water, using a flow of movement techniques on the water’s surface as well as with gentle immersions. Surrendering to being deeply held, one enters into a state of fluidity and flow where the mind quiets and insights can be received. Tensions and emotions are released, cleansing and purifying the body and mind.
A session can be joyful, deep, and/or emotionally releasing, bringing what is needed in the moment while releasing what is no longer necessary to your path forward.
Excerpt from Janzu Water Therapy session
“I had a Craniosacral session with Julia yesterday and it was amazing! She held space so lovingly and attuned with my subtle energy body as well as physical body in a way that left me feeling deeply safe. We also went deep into dialoguing with my heart (both physically and energetically) and cleared a block rooted in childhood... and all of this was done with such ease and precision allowing me to stay regulated and safe. Highly recommend her to anyone seeking deep body work from a very gentle and loving approach.”
