Expanded Perception is an experiential workshop for art students exploring the malleability of the eyes and perception. We will learn about the anatomy of the eyes and the brain, explore individual and partner techniques for releasing the muscles around the eyes, and participate in experiential and spatial exercises to develop expanded perception. By loosening our eyes from their traditional ways of viewing the world, we will consider a multi-faceted approach to visuality and discuss the Western privileging of Ocularcentrism (visual-centric ways of viewing the world).
